Precious Play Days have operated in the West Watford area since 2013. We have become the Goldilocks of the area, trying out all of the halls until we found the perfect premises to meet the needs of our new pedagogy. Here is a brief history of Precious Play Days:

In 2013 we first opened in Durban Road East

We found this building to be too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer on account of it being primarily made of metal… so we moved!

During our last Ofsted Inspection at this premises (12/06/2014), Ofsted found our practice to be “good” in all areas.

Ofsted wrote, ‘Staff have a secure understanding of how children learn best. They plan and create a welcoming, safe, and interesting learning environment both indoors and outdoors. As a result, children make good progress in their learning’

Next we moved to Trinity Methodist Church on whippendell Road

We found that this building had too many stairs and we really wanted ‘free flow’ to the garden to completely embrace our pedagogy… so we moved!

(A Screenshot of last Ofsted inspection for this premises is below. We are very proud of this grade because we were found to be outstanding in the Personal development, behaviour and welfare of children).

Ofsted wrote: ‘Staff are extremely dedicated to meeting children’s needs and expertly promote their personal requirements, cultures and home languages. Children swiftly settle and form exceptionally strong bonds with staff and peers. They are happy and very comfortable’

This photo was taken in 1985 at the opening of the very first preschool at the Multicultural Community Centre on Durban Road West. This is a clipping from the Watford Observer. It is my mum’s favourite story that I used to scream the place down when she left me at preschool, and then one day, this photo of me happily washing the dolls appeared in the newspaper!

Maybe I have been fussy when selecting the right premises for our pedagogy - or maybe I was destined to return to the Multicultural Community Centre on Durban Road West. Here, I am home!
